The instructor for the club is Sensei Dave Powell 3^rd Dan. Sensei Dave first got interested in Kimura Shukokai after his eldest daughter, Emily, started training 11 years ago. Sensei Dave originally trained in Lau Gar and White Crane kung fu and then Sankukai Karate achieving 2^nd Dan.Sensei Dave has trained for many years under the guidance of Sensei Solfrid Daniels and believes in the same principles of training for the true martial art where etiquette, respect, discipline are of prime importance. Sensei Dave is taught by Shihan Eddie Daniels,8^th Dan joint world chief instructor, every week, and has been a member of the SKF national squad since 2001 competing in the veterans in both kata and kumite winning medals in kata in both European and World competitions. Whilst attending the European and World tournaments each year Sensei Dave trains with the 4 world chief instructors from South Africa, America and the UK.
